Load Bearing Collars
TruDesign Load Bearing Collars are designed to be used with TruDesign Skin Fittings and Ball Valves. They enable the Skin Fitting-Ball Valve-Hose Tail assembly to withstand a 500 lb (227 kg) static force applied to the Hose Tail end of the assembly for a minimum of 30 seconds, in compliance with North American ABYC H-27 standards.
TruDesign Load Bearing Collars
TruDesign Load Bearing Collars are designed for use with TruDesign Skin Fittings and Ball Valves. With the Collar in place, the Skin Fitting-Ball Valve-Hose Tail assembly will withstand a 500 lb (227 kg) static force applied to the Hose Tail end of the assembly, for a minimum of 30 seconds – complying with North American ABYC H-27 standards.
Note: TruDesign 1 1/4″, 1 1/2″, 2″ Skin Fittings meet the requirements of H-27 500Lb standard (i.e. without a Large Collar installed). Adding a Large Collar to assemblies of this size increases the overall strength and protects the vulnerable exposed thread section on the Skin Fitting.
Load Bearing Collars Features:
- American ABYC H-27 – 500Lb static load test – TRUDESIGN Skin Fittings and Ball Valves meet the American ABYC H-27 – 500Lb static load test; Seacocks, Thru-Hull Fittings, and Drain Plugs – independently verified by IMANNA Laboratory Inc.
- For sizes 1¼” through to 3” the ABYC Collar is not a requirement to meet this static load test.
- TruDesign ABYC Load Bearing Collar is required for the size ¾ and 1” to meet this static load test.
- The ½” does not meet the 500Lb static load test with or without the ABYC collar.
- Compact footprint.
- No additional bolts or fasteners through or onto the hull.
- Ability to retrofit to existing TruDesign assemblies.

- Shrouded protection.
- Fool-proof assembly – if not snug when tightened the Skin Fitting’s length will need shortening. See info sheet.

Load Bearing Collars Compliance and Approvals:
ABYC 500Lb load test standard. TruDesign 1¼”,1½”, 2”, and 3” Thru Hulls, Ball Valves, and Tail assemblies comply with the ABYC 500Lb load test with or without an ABYC collar.
TruDesign 1” Thru-Hull, Ball Valve, and Tail assembly comply with the ABYC 500Lb load test only when used with the TruDesign ABYC collar. The ½” and ¾” do not comply with the ABYC load test standard.
Independently verified by IMANNA Laboratory Inc., Rockledge FL, USA. (Test Report 20143-1). Note: Not tested with other manufacturer’s fittings. Note this does not apply for ½” and ¾” Thru Hulls.
TruDesign Skin Fittings and Ball Valves are certified by Bureau Veritas & IMCI to ISO 9093-2 standards (Small craft — Seacocks and through-hull fittings —Non-metallic), for use above and below the waterline. Note this does not include the ½” Skin Fitting and Ball Valve.
